Internship
Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC)
May 2021 – Aug 2021
During my internship, the focus was on GSE (ground support equipment) pooling—shared equipment used by multiple airlines and ground handlers at the airport. I worked with the airport’s equipment-usage data to understand current operations, contacted TCR (a major pooling provider in Europe) to explore feasibility of introducing pooling at Incheon, and helped summarize expected benefits such as lower turnaround costs, reduced apron congestion, and environmental gains.
- Contacted and negotiated with TCR (Europe), the leading provider of GSE pooling, on introducing shared GSE supply at IIAC to improve ground-operation efficiency.
- Analyzed the airport’s equipment-usage data and how ground support equipment was managed; quantified cost savings and SDG-related improvements and presented findings.
I learned how to work with operational data from a real organization and how to coordinate with an external partner. Turning analysis into a clear case for a new way of managing assets required patience and clarity; I saw how decisions at that level take time so that stakeholders can align.
