Market Researcher
Hyundai Motor Company
Oct 2021 – Feb 2023
I supported global automotive market research by integrating data from external aggregators (S&P Global, S&P Automotive, EV Volumes) with internal company datasets. A large part of the role was validating and reconciling numbers across sources so that teams could rely on a single, consistent view for forecasting and reporting. Day to day, I used SQL and Python for data handling and supported the design and rollout of a business intelligence (BI) dashboard used across the company.
- Supported research on the global automotive vehicle market; collected and integrated data from multiple external aggregators (e.g. S&P Global, S&P Automotive, EV Volumes) and internal company sources.
- Helped aggregate and validate local and group-level data to ensure consistency and correctness for group-wide demand-forecast and reporting.
- Supplied validated datasets and analysis inputs to colleagues for annual, monthly, and quarterly reports to superiors, decision makers, the board of directors, and external stakeholders.
- Carried out data handling and pipeline work in SQL and Python; supported the design and rollout of a business intelligence (BI) dashboard for company-wide use.
- Contributed to in-depth reports on the European electric vehicle market and on economic shock and structural shifts in European vehicle markets.
- Supported segment downshifting analysis and long-term demand forecasts by powertrain (EV, ICE, HEV, PHEV).
- Analyzed online surveys for market sentiment and used the results to support market and strategy discussions.
I was able to experience cross-functional communication and prioritization with diligent and skilled colleagues who were committed and considerate. It helped me learn how to work with integrity and scrutiny. I also focused on making sure data integrity was upheld across various sources. I learned that corporate-level decisions require time and patience so that everyone can get on the same tune.
